Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - Overview
Day 1:
Take to the Bush on a Big 5 Full Day Safari in an Open Game Drive Safari Vehicle into one of the wildest places in Africa, Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve. Gravel roads, rolling hills, hear the roars of the Lions.
Grasslands and open Plains where Cheetahs hunt, watering holes rich with wildlife of every sort, from African Wild Dogs and Elephants to Warthogs. Exploring from the intimate perspective of your 4*4 Open Game Drive Vehicle, encounter the bush and wildlife of the beautiful Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve close-up.
Day 2:
Venture into Isimangaliso Wetlands Park and spend a day exploring the Wetlands, Game Viewing, and Snorkeling through this otherworldly wilderness of protected bays and wetlands wonder. Then head off to the St Lucia Estuary on a Boat Cruise to observe hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and Birds of Prey on one of the largest estuarine systems in Africa.
Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - Highlights
The Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is the largest park in KwaZulu Natal covering an area of 96000 hectares. The park is home to the African Big 5 (Rhino, Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, and Leopard) as well as Cheetahs, Wild Dogs, and numerous other wildlife species.
The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa and is rich in history from when the Game Capture department themselves saved the Rhinos from near extinction or when King Shaka himself used the lower Umfolozi as his personal hunting grounds.
This park is truly an icon and well worth a Full-Day Big 5 Safari.
The iSimangaliso Wetland Park is South Africa's very first world heritage site, your Full-Day exploration tour includes game viewing and snorkeling in a protected bay at Cape Vidal. This Big 4 Park, unfortunately, does not include Lions, however, you do have a better chance of witnessing Leopards in this park.
Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - Whats Included
1x Night's Accommodation at a 4 Star Bed and Breakfast Accommodation At Heritage House. Centrally located within St Lucia and within walking distance to town (50 meters).
1x Full Day Big 5 Safari in an Open Game Drive Vehicle into the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. All gate fees and conservation levies, Breakfast, traditional South African Braai (BBQ), and all refreshments are included.
1x Full Day iSimangaliso Wetland Park Tour, in an Open Game Drive Safari Vehicle. This tour includes game spotting, hides, loops, snorkeling, and a picnic lunch at Cape Vidal. (Weather dependent for Snorkeling)
1x 2 Hr- Hippo Boat Cruise on the St Lucia Estuary, this is the perfect way to end any day in Africa.

Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - Itenary
As mentioned this will depend on your arrival time in St Lucia, At Heritage House.
Should you be able to arrive early in St Lucia then you will depart on the Full-Day iSimangaliso Wetland Park Tour, late afternoon you will set off on a Hippo Boat Cruise on the St Lucia Estuary.
The following day will be an early start 05:00 am as you will set off on a Big 5 Full-Day Safari into the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park.
Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - What would I need to Bring Along?
You would only require comfy clothing and shoes for this package. A camera if possible and a light jacket.
You will be based in St Lucia KwaZulu Natal for this 2-day package. You will be overnighting At Heritage House or similar. How to get to At Heritage House from Durban, click here
Hluhluwe 2 Day Big 5 Safari - What is not Included?
This package does not include any dinners, all restaurants are close and within walking distance. This package may include transfers to and from Durban, should you require a transfer please do let us know.
