iSimangaliso Wetland Park is South Africa's very first world heritage site and was officially incorporated into world heritage sites in 1999 (Unesco). The park is large and covers an area of 3280 square kilometers. Without a doubt, one of the main attractions to the area has to be the Hippos.
Home to 800 Hippos that roam freely including the town of St Lucia. Shoreline Boats operate on the St Lucia Estuary also known as the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Estuary.
The St Lucia Estuary is also home to an estimated 1200 Nile Crocodiles and an abundance of Birdlife, species such as Pied KingFisher, African Eagles, and Mangrove KingFishers to mention just a few.

Departing daily from the Siyabonga Jetty, Shoreline Vessels depart every two hours (weather dependent). All vessels have a maximum carrying capacity of 15 Passengers as this offers ample room for you to move around and ensure you those amazing sightings of the wildlife while on tour.
All skippers are qualified guides as well and will happily answer as many questions that you may have.

Shoreline Boat Safaris was established in 2011 and is a concessioned permit holder permitted to operate on the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Estuary.
The vessels were custom built ensuring safety, comfort, and as shallow a draft as possible. Having the shallowest draft ensures us that the vessels can travel shallower than any other vessels on the estuary and therefore close up sightings.

Such a fun adventure for the family!
Lovely boat cruise through the estuary of St Lucia. Very informative guide who tells you all about the surroundings. We got close to multiple hippo families and saw a few crocodiles. If you love birds there are plenty to see too. A must-do when visiting St Lucia!
Knowledgeable and hawk-eyed guides
A very knowledgeable guide who had the eyes of a hawk managed to spot birds and wildlife from a great distance and was able to answer all my annoying questions in great detail. Had just rained hard so the water levels were high but still saw plenty of hippos and birdlife however no Crocs.
Humorous and interesting tour!
We had a very good time with Mdu during the trip. He had such a good way to guide us and answer our questions and His eyes spotted animals like an eagle. We saw hippos, a crocodile, birds and a lizard. We enjoyed it and definitely would go again!

This is a wonderful tour, the guide, Heini (?- like the beer) was really informative but also very witty and his enthusiasm for the area very much came through. We saw lots of hippos and fabulous creatures they are too. Only one baby croc and a mature one that was barely visible through the reeds but that didn’t matter. Heini also pointed out to us a variety of birds from sea eagles to kingfishers and cormorants.
Fabulous scenery as well.
Only 15 people on the boat so all got an excellent view.
