The Hippo that attacked a residant in St Lucia last week has now been translocated by the game capture team (Ezemvello KZN Wildlife). It is reported that the Hippo will be sold and translocated, this has happened due to the Hippo being witnessed once again in the same area within St Lucia.

Earlier in the week the Hippo attacked a St Lucia Residant, he is reportedly in a stable condition.

Heritage Tours & Safaris has been fortunate to have been invited by the Game Capture Team previously to witness the capture and translocation of White Rhino’s in both Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve and Mkuze Game Reserve, to feel and experience such passion remains enbedded with all of us. Game Capture techniques may be viewd at the Centenery Centre in the Umfolozi Game Reserve.

We hope that after years of seeing Vincent the Hippo that his new home will be as accommodating as all St Lucia residants.

Should you travel to St Lucia please remember that the Hippo’s due roam the streets at night, be vigilant and cautious this is the first incidant that we have had in numerous years. Keep a safe distance and DO NOT try and corner a Hippo.
